Shaka Beukes carries two copies of the favourable form of the
GeneSTAR Tenderness gene. This is the highest rating for the Tenderness
gene. The proof was on the plate as those bulls sired Shaka were marketed locally to consumers looking for Braunvieh Beef. All reports were favourable as the feedback resulted in comments about the tenderness, flavour, lack of excess fat and ample marbling. This group of young bulls also gained on average, 4.01 pounds per day while on feed. During the last 42 days before slaughter, they averaged 4.82 pounds per day. All of the bulls graded " AA" marbling with a 64% yield grade. We were very happy with the results of this group.
